Hi there, my name is Mike. I’ve spent years searching for my calling and I’ve finally found it. I’m a pilot. It’s equally challenging and rewarding and I can’t imagine doing anything else.

To get a feel for my tastes/style, scroll through my Tumblr, as it’s a lookbook of sorts, even if it hasn’t been updated in some time. Want an even deeper dive? Go ahead and give my Walter Mitty Resume a peek for a kind of “life resume” or check out my “True” Resume for a list of unique skills and abilities.

If you want to get in touch, ping me on Twitter or LinkedIn. You can even send me a good ol' fashioned email if you’d like: mikepetrucci@hey.com

Ideas I Live By

In no particular order.

  • It won’t fail because of me.

  • Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

  • All things are permissible but not all things are beneficial.

  • How you do anything is how you do everything.

  • Be appreciative. Mean it and don't fake it.

  • When you find yourself feeling destructive, channel it into something good. Workout or create.

  • Use what works for you but don't lie to yourself.

  • Knock on the sky and listen to the sound.

  • Mornings are for coffee and contemplation.

  • Pursuit and Patience

  • Elite, not Elitist

  • A Spirited Man

  • Onward. Forward.

  • Be a good man. Become a better man.

  • Curiosity as a Constant

  • Proficiency, Precision, Mastery.

  • I endure. I conquer.

  • Do a little, fly a little.

  • Make haste slowly.

Stuff I Use

Some of the following may be affiliate links but I genuinely like the products or services and think you might too.

  • Capital One 360 — No minimums and no fees. Seriously.

  • Evernote — I’ve been a member since May 2008 and while I took a hiatus when they became a bit bloated and slow, they’ve improved greatly and I’m back on board.

  • ForeFlight — I’m a pilot and this just indispensable. I don’t need to describe it because if you’re in the industry, you’re already well aware of its usefulness. I use it as my personal EFB and primary logbook.

  • GORUCK — I have some of their gear and have also done a few events. Everything I needed for 10 days in Thailand fit into my GR2; no roll-aboard for me.

  • HydraPak Recon — This water bottle was a recommendation from Craig Mod and now it’s my recommendation. The '“pour” as you drink is just as good as drinking out of a glass cup, it’s wild.

  • LogTen Pro — It’s boring (in a good way) and way over powered but honestly, it’s probably the only digital logbook a pilot should ever use. I like it especially for tracking duty times.

  • Notion — I’ve used Notion to create personal wiki style databases that includes notes and information for aircraft type rating notes, office intranet resources, and a family “home operating manual.” It’s powerful and I’ve only just scratched the surface.

  • Squarespace — Are you looking to build a site? Squarespace makes it simple and professional to get spun up. Talk to me first and get 6 month trial and 20% off your first year.

Everyday Carry

A lot of people ask what I carry on a daily basis. It changes a little now and then but this is roughly it.
