1 Second Everyday: 2015

I don't think I captured every single day but I know I got most of them and it feels great to keep this going for another year. A lot happened in 2015 but the most obvious (or maybe just to me) is that I switched back from Android to iPhone and the audio/video quality of the videos makes a jump for the better in the second half of 2015.

As I've mentioned before, I highly recommend everyone keep a video journal like this; you'll thank yourself later. Oh and in the beginning, you'll forget days left and right but don't get discouraged. Keep with it.

Items of Want 035

It seems to be for many that taking notes, sketching ideas, and scribbling doodles on physical paper is a dying idea. Rekindle handwritten everything (even if your handwriting stinks).

ā€œKeep a notebook. Travel with it, eat with it, sleep with it. Slap into it every stray thought that flutters up in your brain. Cheap paper is less perishable than gray matter, and lead pencil markings endure longer than memory.ā€ — Jack London

[Acquired] DoubleShot DubCoin

It's been a few years since I've enjoyed the incredible coffee that comes out of the DoubleShot but this place used to be one of my all-time favorite haunts in Tulsa. I love the idea of this coin. For me, it would be a great keepsake until I get to visit T-Town again, at which point I'll trade it in for a cup of the best coffee I've ever had.

Best Made Co. Gift Certificate

This looks like a cop-out but there's always something on my wish list from Best Made and more importantly, just look at this gift certificate. It's almost too good looking to turn in. I wonder if they can just void it and let you keep it...

Gold Leader Patch

When it comes to Star Wars vehicles (or flying science fiction stuff in general), the Y-Wing has always been a personal favorite. It's not necessarily agile but it's a workhorse and will consistently get the job done, even while taking a beating. It's the clydesdale of the Rebel fleet and it's gorgeous.

Hasami Porcelain Mug Cup

I have a thing for coffee mugs and this one has certainly caught my attention. The simple look and dark color tones (of this particular model) checks all the boxes in my book and would easily be a daily driver in my cupboard.

Impossible List

I got this idea from Joel Runyon. He runs a site called ā€˜The Blog of Impossible Things’ and I’m intrigued by it. I agree with his thinking that all of things that were ā€œpossibleā€ were too easy and the rest seemed impossible. Why not start tackling those seemingly ā€œimpossibleā€ things? Ever since I did the GORUCK Challenge, I realized there is a huge resource of potential in me that I’ve never tapped before. That was the catalyst. Time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

PS: This list will probably never be fully complete so check back to see what I’ve added to it. I’m also using it as a type of virtual trophy case. Trust me, it’s not to impress you (I’m sure you’re better/faster/stronger than I am) but it’s for me. Knowing what I’ve accomplished gives me strength to accomplish more.

PPS: Some of the headings and/or goals may be similar or even identical to what Joel has in his list but that’s because I’m trying to jumpstart my ideas and I’m emulating some of his for that reason. As I get more time, I’ll polish everything and make it more custom and unique to both myself and my goals. But hey, it’s his list that got me interested in starting my own and he’s a good ā€˜template’ built!

About

"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." -Plato

Hey there, my name is Mike Petrucci but I guess if you're on this page, you probably already knew that. What do I do? Well, I’m currently trying to figure that out. I consider myself part social media consultant, part gadget junkie, part idea starter*, and part professional Internet surfer.

To really understand me, we should hang out. I'm only about 2 hours from DC and 3 from NYC but if we can't meet in person, you can get a feel for my tastes through my Tumblr feed.

*I hate saying "idea starter" but it's true. My goal is to not only start ideas but to complete them.
